American Express Twitter hashtag feature offers Xbox 360 bundle deal

Earlier this week, American Express launched its Twitter hashtag shopping feature which allows Amex card holders to tie their accounts into their Twitter accounts. This will allow them to use special hashtags to purchase items directly from their Twitter account.

One of the first such special shopping deals is with Microsoft. As shown in this new YouTube video, Amex users with their Twitter accounts can now type in the hashtag #BuyXbox360Bundle to get a 4 GB version of Microsoft's game console for just $179.99. The bundle comes with three free months of Xbox Live Gold service and two tokens that can be used to download two free Xbox Live Arcade games.

American Express also has another Twitter hashtag, #BuyXboxController, that can be used to buy an Xbox 360 wireless controller for just $29.99. Both hashtag sales include two day shipping and end on March 3rd.

By the way, we do think it's kind of odd that American Express used an Apple iPhone to demonstrate their Twitter hashtag deals in the video that are promoting deals on Microsoft products. We think that Microsoft should have asked Amex to use a Windows Phone or a Windows 8 tablet such as the Surface to show off those deals.
